Hypnotising Hecate
This induction grew out of a collaboration with an expert in the Greek Magical Papyri and other arcane texts. She threw a party when I was visiting Oregon, and together we evoked one of the forces of nature and the mind as personified in the poetry of Ancient Greece: Hecate, the guardian of liminal space.
The path-working we did for the guests was so much fun that we decided to record it the following day…
Tripnosis in Brighton was super trippy!
Waking Dragons
In honour of Chinese New Year in the Year of the Dragon, I’m sharing the story of Merlin as a boy in a trance induction.
This version was told to me by the great storyteller Eric Maddern. It is about finding our voice and expressing ourselves, and the powers that are released when we do.
Spoiler: It has dragons in it.
A radical approach
History and experience shows us that hypnosis is indeed disruptive, as is any pathway into trance. In trance we freeze the narrative, which gives us time to view the cycle of trigger and reaction from outside while also providing a sense of internal calm that makes us less susceptible to the constant manipulation to which we are subjected.
My journey with hypnosis
My journey began with a terrible experience. I had been invited onto the radio to talk about my book, but the interview went so badly that the podcaster refused to broadcast it. So I found myself a hypnotherapist to help with public speaking.
